United States: Former President Donald Trump dodged an assassination attempt at a rally on Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania. Following the same, the Republican frontrunner for the 2024 Elections participated in an interview and broke his silence.
During the same, ex-president Trump was quoted saying, “I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead. I’m supposed to be dead,” according to the reports by the New York Post.
Trump addressed the concerns while onboard his private plane. He stated, “The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this, he called it a miracle. By luck or by God, many people are saying it’s by God I’m still here.” It is to be noted that former US President was travelling to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to attend this week’s Republican National Convention.
He further mentioned that he turned his head slightly in the right direction in order to read a chart on illegal immigration, which saved him from a fatal bullet, as per Post.
While elaborating on the actions of the Secret Service agents, he described that the officials rushed to him like “linebackers” and outlined that one of the officials hit the suspect with “one shot right between the eyes.” He further added, “They did a fantastic job, it’s surreal for all of us,” according to the reports by Post.
He further expressed, “The agents hit me so hard that my shoes fell off, and my shoes are tight.”
Trump raised his fist and said, ‘Fight, Fight, Fight.’
During the interview with the Post, Trump also reacted to his pictures by raising his fist following a few seconds of shooting. He asserted, “A lot of people say it’s the most iconic photo they’ve ever seen.”
Furthermore, he added, “They’re right, and I didn’t die. Usually you have to die to have an iconic picture. I just wanted to keep speaking, but I just got shot,” according to Post.
Fine and Very Nice Call by President Biden: Trump
In addition to this, he took a moment to appreciate the “fine” and “very nice” call from President Joe Biden after the assassination attack unfolded.
He also praised the audience at the rally for staying calm and compose during and after shooting incidence. According to Post, he stated, “I love them. They are such great people,” adding, “A lot of places … you hear a single shot, everybody runs. Here there were many shots and they stayed.”
