Ex-President Rally Shooter’s Motive Puzzles Authorities, Investigation Deepens

United States: The investigation of Trump’s assassination attempt has been active and ongoing. Recently, the authorities have outlined that they have unlocked the phone of the shooter involved in the assassination attempt to identify the motive behind the attack.

In addition to this, the officials have also been investigating and searching his car and his house. However, as of now the motives of 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks are unclear and they have come up empty, according to the reports by NBC News.

The officials of the FBI have outlined that they are in the “early stages” of an investigation, but they are not able to identify the motive behind Saturday’s shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania. Reportedly, this has deepened the mystery around the incident.

While addressing the matter, a former FBI profiler who spent more than 25 years – Gregg McCrary, mentioned that the lack of information regarding the shooter has increased the challenge for law enforcement.

McCrary was quoted saying,” This guy is one of these almost invisible people that are out there. They’re not on social media. They’re not screaming or yelling about this or that. They’re ruminating about it internally — whatever it might be. And they just decide to do this, which scares the hell out of all of us in law enforcement.”

In addition to this, he added, “Some people say it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack. That’s not really it. A better way to think about it is to try and predict which piece of hay is going to become a needle,” as per NBC News.

The details of the matter were also shared by senior law enforcement officials on Monday. According to four senior officials, more than a dozen guns were reportedly found inside Crook’s family home in Bethel Park.

Other three senior officials mentioned that following the shooting at Trump’s rally, the father of the shooter called police officials and mentioned that his son and his AR rifle were missing. Reportedly, the officials went to the home after the call.

Along with this, a senior official announced that the investigation had been done to figure out whether any sort of ammunition in the shooting or bullets were taken or delivered to the home.

While mentioning the unavailability of evidence in the shooter’s phone, the FBI’s technical specialists mentioned that they would be analyzing other electronic gadgets as well.

A Few Details About the Shooter Has Uncovered!

The FBI officials have uncovered a few details regarding the shooter and his background, according to the same. Crooks has been a registered Republican who once participated in donations for progressive voting efforts, as per NBC News.

What Family Members of Crooks Commented?

The officials interviewed the family members of the shooter, and during the same, Mark Crooks – the uncle of the shooter, mentioned that he had not talked to the shooter or his father since 2019 – the time when their father died. He added that he tried to connect to his brother after the news surfaced regarding the identification of Crooks as the shooter.

He further mentioned that he has not seen his nephew in several years and is unknown about the motive behind his attempt to assassinate Trump. He further expressed that he is feeling terribly bad about the victims, and the actions of his nephew were unforgivable.

He was quoted saying, “You know what, you can’t forgive what he did. Look at what he did. He shot at everybody. He killed one guy and wounded a couple more.”

Amid the ongoing investigation, the FBI profiler mentioned that the shooter acted alone and without any clue on social media or known threats, and understanding the matter has become more difficult. He was quoted saying, “We may never know. The problem is we’re looking for some rational explanation for irrational behavior. And sometimes there is no rational explanation.”
