Unexpected Dip in COVID-19 Cases – Is It the Start of a New Trend?

United States: COVID-19, which has become a havoc, has recently seen a drop in cases. During this week, the cases dropped from 10,295 to 10,418, according to reports by the Ohio Health Department. This slight decrease has been reported after a continuous increase for around 13 consecutive weeks.

Surprisingly, the number of new cases reached up to the mark of 10,000 last week, which was extremely worrisome for the doctors and health experts. Such a huge number of cases were reported for the first time since January.

If compared, during the same time in 2023, the state reported as many as 8,000 cases.

The health officials of Ohio have asked the general public to receive at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine until September 19 – this announcement was made after the FDA approved the new vaccine against the latest domain strain. The vaccine shot is considered to be important during the upcoming respiratory virus season.

The health officials of Ohio have mentioned that the COVID-19 vaccine dashboard has been updated “to reflect the number of Ohioans who have reported to have received the 2024-25 vaccine.”

Since 2020, the total number of reported cases of COVID-19 has reached 3,817,787.

Around 258 Ohioans were hospitalized during the last week, which has raised the total since 2020 to 153,540. Along with this, around 13 people were admitted to the ICU, which has taken the total up to 15,878.

The data from the state health department has revealed that 13 people lost their lives due to COVID-19 infection, which has raised the total to 44,159.
